    Description

A fresh and harmonious great wine from Margaux

    The estate

The Château Palmer is a true star of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of the Bordeaux region. With the beginnings of biodynamics started in 2009, Château Palmer chose to convert the entire vineyard from 2014. After building its legend on vintages that have become mythical, Château Palmer continues to write its history under the direction of the talented Thomas Duroux.

    The vineyard

The Château Palmer 2023 is a Margaux wine from an exceptional terroir located in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary. Château Palmer has an unusual grape variety in Médoc, giving pride of place to Merlot (47%), which is alongside Cabernet Sauvignon in equal proportions (47%) associated with Petit Verdot (6%).

    The vintage

Fresh and humid, the winter is marked by a frosty episode on April 4th without impact for the vineyard. Unstable, the spring is characterized by a strong sanitary pressure contained thanks to the know-how of the teams. A homogeneous flowering suggests generous yields. Warm but veiled, the months of June and July precede a gloomy early August offset by a first heatwave (17 to 24 August) which stops vegetative growth in favour of good berry maturity, before a second heat peak ten days later ensuring optimal grape concentration. Started on September 11, the harvest is stopped for 7 days due to storm risks, before resuming under very good conditions.

    Blend

This Château Palmer 2023 is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (46%) and Petit Verdot (4%).
