Domaine Belargus was created in 2018 following Ivan Massonnat’s takeover of the Pithon-Paillé estate created by Jo Pithon, a winemaker renowned for having developed the reputation of great white Anjou (a wine-growing region which first vines date back to the 11th century) wines for several years.

The passionate Ivan Massonnat magnifies these Loire terroirs through cuvées produced from a rigorous, plot-based selection. From grand crus to hamlets and monopolies, each micro-terroir contributes, through its identity and specific features, to the signature style of these cuvées which highlight a unique grape variety, the Chenin Blanc.

Exclusively operated through biodynamism, the distinctiveness of the 24-hectare vineyard lies in its soils, which are made up of, depending on the plot, purple schists, magmatic rocks, round pebbles and even fine clay. This geological diversity encourages vine rooting, as well as giving the wines an aromatic complexity, minerality and a rare finesse.
