Situé en Provence, le Domaine Gavoty est une propriété familiale depuis 8 générations.
Located in Provence, Domaine Gavoty has been a family property for 8 generations.
Philémon Gavoty acquired the estate in 1806 and gave the vineyard the name of Campdumy, “Champ des vendanges” (harvest field). He advocated a visionary philosophy geared towards the recognition and development of the Côtes de Provence appellation as a wine-growing area in its own right.
From 1960 to 1980 Pierre and Bernard Gavoty, very involved locally, notably favoured the extension of the appellation and contributed to the commercial development of the estate.
Since 1985, Roselyne Gavoty has been in charge of the vinification of the estate's wines, with the ambition of promoting these "terroir" wines, each expressing with authenticity the identity and specificities of the appellation.
Covering an area of 45 hectares in one piece, Domaine Gavoty is planted on clay-limestone soil and a Triassic plateau, favouring the deep rooting of the vines and giving a beautiful minerality to these wines endowed, due to a climate with cold winters and very hot summers, with significant ageing potential. Respectful of the environment, Domaine Gavoty manages its vineyard by promoting biodiversity and polyculture.
A pioneer, Domaine Gavoty was the first to produce white wines from Rolle in the 1970s. It thus highlights the brilliance, minerality and ageing capacity of this Turkish grape variety gradually established in the South and South-East of France.
Grenache and Cinsault also make up the estate's grape varieties.
Recognised for their constant regularity, the rosés of the estate are elaborated with high standards to bring out all their aromatic palette.
Produced only in exceptional years, the red wines of Domaine Gavoty reveal the harshness of their original climate with a freshness of rare elegance. These red wines have an ageing potential of more than 15 years.
The best cuvées bear the name of Clarendon, in homage to Bernard Gavoty, music critic and agricultural engineer.
In constant search for the purest expression of her terroir, Roselyne Gavoty produces wines recognised by numerous critics. In 2020, Domaine Gavoty obtained its certification in Organic Agriculture and won its 4th star in 2020 in the Bettane&Desseauve Guide.
