Description
Chateau Troplong Mondot 2016 : a powerful Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
A 1er Grand Cru Classe of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Troplong Mondot is a red wine produced in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The vineyard of 33 hectares is home to vines aged 20 years on average, planted in clay-limestone soils. The wine is aged in barrels (77% new) for a period of 12 to 24 months. Chateau Troplong Mondot 2016 is made from a blend of 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Following a dry and mild winter, the weather conditions from January to June were marked by plenty of rain and warm temperatures. Bud burst occurred early and flowering was regular and homogeneous, despite heavy rainfall. The summer of this year was extremely hot and dry, while the late season brought beautiful days, allowing for the perfect ripening of the berries. The harvest took place between October 3rd and 27th.
Chateau Troplong Mondot 2016 develops a pure nose with floral and fruity fragrances. The tannins are creamy on the palate. This wine offers density and precision in its youth, with delicious touches of fruit mixed with black pepper. Chateau Troplong Mondot 2016 reveals an extremely long finish. What a success!
This tasting note is mainly intended to describe at a given moment the general profile of the wine. Note that over time, the wine (which necessarily evolves in the bottle) may develop other organoleptic qualities.
