The property

Since its acquisition by the Álvares family in 1982, Vega Sicilia has continued to grow and establish its international reputation. Today, a continuous search for excellence, a beautiful harmony with nature, rigorous and unwavering dedication make the Spanish estate a prestigious reference. Over the years, other vineyards such as Pintia have come to embrace and magnify the philosophy of Vega Sicilia. Thus, the extreme care given to the vines as well as to the winemaking signs the great wines of Spain that come from unique lands.

The wine

Macán de Vega Sicilia & Rothschild is a Rioja wine born from the close Franco-Spanish collaboration between two illustrious wine institutions. Initiated in 2004, this joint venture between Vega Sicilia and the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild exhales, through wines resulting from a rigorous parcel selection within a 98-hectare vineyard, all the nuances and complexity of the most beautiful terroirs of Spain. 

Vinification

The vinification is based on the infusion technique, favoring a delicate extraction. The aging, lasting 15 months, takes place mainly in vats, preferred over barrels to preserve the pure expression of the terroir.
