The property
Since its acquisition by the Álvares family in 1982, Vega Sicilia has continued to grow and establish its international reputation. Today, a continuous pursuit of excellence, a beautiful harmony with nature, rigorous and unwavering dedication make the Spanish estate a prestigious reference. Over the years, other vineyards like Pintia have come to embody and magnify the philosophy of Vega Sicilia. Thus, the extreme care given to the vines as well as the winemaking process results in great Spanish wines that come from unique lands.
The wine
In 2001, Bodega Pintia joined the prestigious Vega Sicilia estate, after extensive replanting of the vineyard and modernization of the infrastructure. The Pintia cuvée explores the terroirs of the Toro, a traditional wine region located near the Douro River. Its vineyard, divided into several plots over 96 hectares, extends to 700 meters above sea level on soils mixing clay, quartz, and pebbles. The extreme continental climate, marked by hot and arid summers followed by harsh winters, ensures optimal health of the grapes and exceptional taste quality. The vines, about 35 years old, are cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with meticulous attention paid to each stage of the vegetative cycle.
Vinification and aging
For Pintia 2020, the extraction was carefully controlled during fermentation to preserve the freshness of the fruit. The aging took place over 11 months in barrels and amphorae. The wine then benefited from a rest of 30 months in bottle before its commercialization, allowing the aromas to blend harmoniously.

100% tinto de Toro, a local variety of tempranillo.
