The property

Since its acquisition by the Álvares family in 1982, Vega Sicilia has continued to grow and establish its international reputation. A mythical estate, Vega Sicilia originates from the north of Castile, in the wine-growing area of the DO Ribera del Duero but also extends into the DO Toro appellation in the south of Castile. Today, a continuous search for excellence, a beautiful harmony with nature, a rigor and unwavering dedication make the Spanish estate a prestigious reference. Over the years, other vineyards such as Pintia have come to embrace and magnify the philosophy of Vega Sicilia. Thus, the extreme care given to the vines as well as to the winemaking signs the great wines of Spain that come from unique lands.

The wine

With Unico Reserva Especial, Vega Sicilia perpetuates a centuries-old Spanish tradition by combining several vintages in the same blend. In the past, the few Spanish cellars practicing bottling produced two types of wines at each harvest: a vintage wine and a second, without a specific vintage, known as "Reserva Especial". Faithful to this heritage, Vega Sicilia only chooses the greatest vintages of the Único cuvée to shape this exceptional wine, of rare complexity and inimitable identity: the Vega Sicilia style.

The vineyard

Bordering the Duero River, the 210 hectares of vineyards are divided into three grape varieties: tempranillo (also known as tinto fino), cabernet sauvignon and merlot. 140 hectares of this production are reserved for the production of the Valbuena and Unico cuvées. The entire vineyard is managed sustainably. This mythical wine from the Ribera del Duero is among the greatest crus of Spain and the world.

Vinification and aging

The Unico Reserva Especial Venta 2025 represents the art of blending according to Vega Sicilia. This exceptional cuvée brings together three remarkable vintages: 2011, 2012 and 2013. This traditional practice of blending different years allows for a wine of incomparable complexity and depth.
