The estate
Founded in 1968 following the merger of 5 estates, Castellare di Castellina is one of Italy's finest wine producers. Renowned for their quality, the estate's wines derive their uniqueness both from their exceptional terroir and from their label, whose bird represents the estate's deep respect for its surrounding nature.
The vineyard
Coniale di Castellare di Castellina was founded in the midst of rolling vineyards in the hills of Tuscany. Currently covering 80 hectares at an altitude of 350-400 metres, the vines benefit from a unique microclimate that combines Mediterranean influences with cooler temperatures. The soil composition is dominated by Galestro and Alberese, two types of schistose clay typical of the region. The topographical variety and distinct terroir contribute to the production of exquisite wines, celebrated for their elegance and complexity.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes are sorted before alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels, where the wine is aged for around 12 months. This IGT Toscana wine benefits from a further 12 months' bottle ageing before being released on the market.
