Born at the dawn of the last century, Domaine Chevillon boasts an impressive ability to move with the times. Indeed, it was founded in 1900 by Symphorien Chevillon who then sketched the basis of the current estate, and the property remains owned by the same family four generations later.
Each emblematic figure of the family has contributed to the estate: Symphorien bought the original ares of vines, Eugène-François enlarged the estate, his two sons continued the extension of the family land and lastly, at the end of the 20th century, Robert provided a fresh pair of eyes on his ancestors' work. He ensured that his vision was passed on to his children when he retired in 2003, and they are now working to bring the estate into a modern era.
Located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate produces Burgundy wines on land renowned for its geological and climatic qualities. Only one grape variety is cultivated on this family vineyard: Pinot Noir. The expression of the region’s emblematic grape variety is the result of the marriage between terroirs, climat and the dedicated work of the technical teams. Despite the constant and rapid evolution of vineyard management practices, the latter strive to continually train themselves in order to always provide the most precise work.
In order to preserve the land of their ancestors and to ensure its longevity, the Chevillon family harvests the grapes by hand and carries out the most natural vinification. Thus, the wines of the estate truly tell the story of their terroir of origin.
The wealth of traditional know-how acquired over the decades has been perfectly preserved, but the estate remains at the cutting edge of the latest technologies. For the heirs, it is very important to strike the right balance between tradition and modernity in order to obtain very harmonious, fruity and authentic wines.
